Negotiations Committee Bargaining Update 07.21.26
July 21, 2026
As you all know, the Teamsters Airline Division and your negotiating committee are meeting with United Airlines this week to continue talking through the company’s offer and to finalize tentative agreements prior to releasing their final offer.
Our intention was to share more information once these meetings have concluded, so we could provide the most accurate and up-to-date information. Clearly, the company had other ideas.
Most of you will have seen the email that United’s labor relations prematurely sent yesterday. This email was distributed while Airline Division representatives were actively meeting with the company to determine the exact details of their offer. United’s message intentionally and falsely made it sound like an agreement had been reached and language had been finalized.
The truth is, the moment that message went out, we were only halfway through carefully reading the proposed deal section by section. There were areas of the offer that United had not even drafted, including some of the very areas they listed as highlights of the deal.
To send an email suggesting they had a complete offer to present to the Airline Division and to your committee was categorically untrue and completely unprofessional. United arrived with an unfinished proposal and still has much more work to do to explain its offer. The entire rank-and-file committee is meeting today to consider the changes and the company’s revised proposal.
We will keep you as informed as we can throughout these meetings and through the rest of the process. We strongly encourage you to never take the company’s communications at face value and wait for verified information from the division and your committee before drawing conclusions.
We will send another update once we have more information from today’s meeting. Thank you for your continued patience.
